FAQ

How does surrogacy actually work?

Surrogacy is a structured medical and legal process where a woman (the surrogate) carries a pregnancy for intended parents. Modern U.S. surrogacy is almost always gestational, meaning the surrogate is not genetically related to the baby.

Is the surrogate genetically related to the baby?

No, an embryo is transferred into the surrogate. The baby is genetically related to the intended parents.

How much does surrogacy cost?

There is no simple answer to this question, but at $120,000-$180,000. This is an estimate, what can affect the cost is the agency fee, surrogate compensation, legal fees, medical costs, insurance costs and miscellaneous costs.

Is surrogacy legal in the United States?

Yes, surrogacy is legal in the United States, but each state has different restrictions. Some states, like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey, permit surrogacy for all parents without conditions. States like Ohio, West Virginia, and New York have some restrictions on surrogacy, while other states have more legal hurdles or prohibit it altogether. Contact us to learn more about the process in your state.

Is surrogacy legal in Pennsylvania?

Yes, Pennsylvania is a surrogacy-friendly state! While there are certain legal steps you must take to undergo the process, PA is a great state for surrogates and intended parents.

Why should I work with a surrogacy agency instead of independently?

While the choice is entirely up to you, working with a surrogacy agency minimizes risk and stress in the surrogacy process. Our experience allows us to help you avoid problems and common pitfalls while ensuring you meet all requirements. With an agency, you can proceed with confidence knowing all t's are crossed and i's are dotted.

Testimonials

Hear From LMS Families

I had the sincere privilege of being with Ursula in the hospital the moment she lovingly handed over her surrogate twins to their biological father. Personally overwhelmed with my own flurry of emotions, I sensed her sadness, joy, sacrifice, strength, sense of fulfilled purpose, and most of all, love for the twins. At the same time I witness the new dad's feelings of excitement, anxiety, joy, love, amazement, and gratitude. Over the years since, I have seen Ursula's continuing love of the twins as she received updated photos of the toddlers. What a gift Ursula gave through her own surrogacy journey. I am proud of her that she has followed God's calling by helping others give and receive the gifts of life, love, and Parenthood.

My husband and I connected with Little Miracles surrogacy after 7 years of my cancer treatments and being told that I can never become pregnant. We did an egg retrieval, froze embryos, and set out to find a surrogate. The first conversation we had with Ursula, we knew that we would be in good hands. She listened to our story and made us feel so understood and at ease about the process. Through them, we found an incredible surrogate and Little Miracles worked very hard to make sure we could start our journey as soon as possible. We hired them in September and are set to have our first transfer in March. In just 6 months, they are helping our dream come true. I could not rate them higher or recommend them more wholeheartedly.

When exploring options to grow my family, I had the pleasure of meeting with Ursula. She was so kind, informative, transparent about any hurdles, and ultimately positive about the beauty of the surrogacy experience. It is obvious that this agency has a foundation of Christ centered principles and the preservation/creation of life. They are creating miracles here and I'd encourage any curious mamas to be to call Ursula right away!

We are incredibly grateful for the support and care that Little Miracles has provided throughout my journey as a surrogate. From the very beginning, they were compassionate and always available to answer questions or offer reassurance. They truly understand both the emotional and practical sides of surrogacy, and it shows! We have felt respected, supported, and valued every step of the way.
